Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between USGC and JLLA?
US Global Connect, LLC (USGC) is the parent organization — a cross-border publishing intermediary headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Jade Lotus Literary Agency (JLLA) is its author-representation division. USGC also handles the Western-to-Asian market pipeline through its East-West Literary Exchange initiative.
What languages do you work in?
Our primary working languages are English and Vietnamese. All author-facing communication with Vietnamese authors is in Vietnamese. Submission materials to publishers are in English.
Do you accept unsolicited submissions?
Yes. JLLA accepts submissions from Asian authors directly. Please review submission requirements at jlla.ink/authors/ before submitting. We aim to respond within one to two weeks of a complete submission.
What genres do you represent?
For Asian authors seeking Western publication: literary fiction, narrative nonfiction, memoir, and speculative fiction. For Western content seeking Asian market introduction: business, leadership, technology, personal development, and accessible nonfiction. We do not currently represent genre romance, children’s picture books, poetry collections, or academic monographs.
Do you represent authors in their home market?
No. JLLA represents authors exclusively for English-language publication outside their home country. Existing domestic publishing arrangements continue unchanged.
What does it cost?
JLLA literary representation: Nothing upfront. JLLA operates on a standard literary agency commission model — we earn a percentage of income we generate for you, paid only when a deal closes. No reading fees, submission fees, or retainers. JLLA’s self-publishing track also operates at zero upfront cost, on an advance-and-recoup model.
USGC Professional Publishing Services: Fee-based. Bronze, Silver, and Gold packages range from approximately $600–$1,200 USD (15–30 million VND), depending on package level and manuscript complexity. Payment is 50% at project commencement and 50% prior to publication. Final pricing is confirmed in writing before work begins. See the Services page for full package details.
How long does the process take?
We aim to respond to complete submissions within one to two weeks. Preparing a full submission packet typically takes two to eight weeks depending on translation requirements. Publisher response times vary from weeks to months.
Do you work with self-publishing?
Yes, in two distinct ways. JLLA has a dedicated self-publishing track for represented authors who prefer direct market access — we prepare the manuscript, handle formatting, and support KDP publication under JLLA representation, on an advance-and-recoup model with zero upfront cost to the author. Separately, USGC offers fee-based Professional Publishing Services for professional and business authors who want to publish an English edition independently, without seeking literary representation. These are different services with different structures; see the questions below for details on the USGC publishing packages.
What content do you not accept?
Political works, investigative journalism, works with prior censorship or publication bans, content likely to face regulatory obstacles, works previously published in English, or works without clear world English rights. See our Content Scope page for full details.
What is the USGC Professional Publishing Service?
US Global Connect’s Professional Publishing Service is a fee-based production service that helps Asian entrepreneurs, executives, consultants, educators, and professionals publish English-language editions of their professional works through Amazon KDP. Unlike JLLA literary representation, this service does not involve royalty sharing or a commission relationship — clients pay a flat package fee and retain all copyright and all platform royalties. USGC earns service fees only. This service is suited to business and professional nonfiction, not to literary fiction or narrative memoir, which belong to the JLLA representation track.
Who should use the USGC Professional Publishing Service rather than JLLA?
If you are an Asian entrepreneur, executive, consultant, educator, or specialist with a professional or business book you want to publish in English — and you are not seeking literary representation or pursuing traditional publishing — USGC’s publishing service is the right channel. If you are a literary author (fiction, memoir, narrative nonfiction, speculative fiction) seeking publication with a Western press, you belong on the JLLA representation track. The two tracks are entirely separate.
Do I keep my royalties if I use the USGC publishing service?
Yes, completely. Your Amazon KDP account is established in your name and credentials. Royalties are paid directly to you by Amazon. USGC receives its service fee only — it does not participate in book-sale revenue in any form.
